Rani Pink & Sage Green Banarasi Silk Zari Saree
Exquisite heritage craftsmanship — rani pink against sage green is an old, confident Banarasi pairing: the contrast border does the work that a heavier gold would, and it reads as considered rather than obvious. This is a saree for a wedding function, a sangeet or a formal reception, where you want the drape to be noticed for its colour as much as its zari.
The ground is Banarasi silk in a bright rani pink, woven all over with silver-gold zari in a dense floral jaal — scrolling vines, leaf sprays and small blooms with occasional flower heads picked out in deep pink and green. A broad sage-green contrast border runs down both selvedges, itself woven with paisley and floral zari and finished with a narrow charcoal edge, and the pallu closes in the same sage green with a deep panel of woven paisley and stacked geometric bands. The blouse piece is deep bottle green.
