Terms of service

Last updated: 17 September 2026

These terms apply to every purchase made through zariandgota.co.uk (the "site"), which is operated by Zari and Gota ("we", "us"). By placing an order you agree to these terms. Please also read our Shipping policy, Refund policy and Privacy policy, which form part of them.

1. About us and how to contact us

Zari and Gota is a UK-based retailer of Indian occasion wear, fashion jewellery and accessories. You can contact us at info@zariandgota.co.uk. We aim to reply within one working day.

2. Products

Most of our pieces are one of a kind, so a product may become unavailable after you have viewed it. We take care to describe each item accurately, including its fabric, work and whether it is unstitched, semi-stitched or ready to wear. Colours may appear slightly different on screen from the actual product because of screen settings and lighting. Handmade embroidery, block printing and weaving naturally vary slightly from piece to piece; such variation is a feature of the craft, not a fault.

Unstitched sets are sold as lengths of fabric for you to have tailored; the model images on our listings show one way the set could be stitched and are for illustration only. Measurements given for fabric lengths are approximate.

3. Ordering and contract

When you place an order you will receive an email acknowledging it. This is not acceptance. A contract is formed when we send you an email confirming that your order has been dispatched. We may decline or cancel an order before dispatch — for example if an item has sold out, a price or description was shown in error, or payment cannot be verified — and will refund any payment taken in full.

You must be 18 or over to place an order.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include UK VAT where applicable. Delivery charges are shown separately at checkout. Where a currency other than GBP is displayed, the conversion is indicative and your card provider's rate and any fees will apply. Payment is taken in full when the order is placed, through the payment providers offered at checkout. If we discover a pricing error after you have ordered, we will contact you to confirm whether you wish to proceed at the correct price or cancel.

5. Delivery

Delivery is governed by our Shipping policy. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to the address you gave. Ownership passes when we have received payment in full. Import duties and taxes for deliveries outside the UK are your responsibility.

6. Cancellations, returns and faulty goods

Your cancellation and return rights are set out in our Refund policy. In summary: consumers may cancel within 14 days of receiving an order and return unused items in original condition at their own postage cost; custom-stitched or altered items and cut fabric cannot be returned; faulty or incorrect items are exchanged or refunded in full, including return postage. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

7. Custom stitching and consultations

Where we agree to arrange stitching, alterations, or styling and event consultations, the scope, price and timescale will be confirmed by email before work starts. Custom-stitched items are made to your measurements and cannot be cancelled once work has begun or returned unless faulty. Measurements you provide are your responsibility.

8. Care of products

Care guidance is given on each listing. Fashion jewellery is not precious metal or gemstone and should be kept away from water, perfume and chemicals. We are not liable for damage caused by failure to follow the care guidance.

9. Our liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our negligence, up to the price paid for the products concerned. We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any matter where it would be unlawful to do so. We are not liable for business losses; the site is for consumer use.

10. Intellectual property

The Zari and Gota name, logo, photographs, product descriptions and site content belong to us or our licensors and may not be copied or used without our written permission.

11. Your account and the site

You are responsible for keeping any account password confidential. We may suspend or withdraw the site or any part of it at any time. We do not guarantee that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

12. Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including carrier or customs delays, strikes, severe weather or supplier failure. We will let you know and take reasonable steps to minimise the effect; if the delay is substantial you may cancel and receive a refund for products not yet dispatched.

13. General

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although consumers resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU may also rely on the mandatory consumer laws and courts of their home country. If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest continue to apply. We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force when you place an order applies to that order.
