Purple Ghatchola Banarasi Silk Mirror Work Saree
Regal heritage craftsmanship — a ghatchola-style Banarasi silk saree in rich violet purple, divided into a diagonal lattice of fine gold zari lines with a small woven motif inside each diamond. The wide border and pallu carry dense gold zari florals and paisleys against a pale silver-gold band, and small round mirrors are set at intervals along the edge, which finishes in a scalloped mirror-and-pearl trim.
Purple sits apart from the reds and golds that dominate a wedding hall, which is the point of it — it reads as traditional without being the same as everyone else's. The ghatchola grid is a Gujarati and Rajasthani weave, heavy enough to hold its drape through a long ceremony. It comes with a matching blouse piece.
